The following are examples of supplements that are commonly incorporated into Vibrant Health’s functional medicine protocols. This is not a mandatory purchase list. Individual needs are always determined by clinical evaluation, lab results, and your provider’s guidance. We share these examples to illustrate what evidence-based foundational supplementation looks like in a functional medicine context.
| Supplement | Why It May Be Recommended |
|---|---|
Ortho Molecular Products K-Force (Vitamin D3 with K2 for immune, bone, and cardiovascular support) | Vitamin D deficiency is widespread and frequently undetected in standard primary care, because conventional labs often use minimum sufficiency thresholds rather than optimal ranges. D3 supports immune function, bone density, cardiovascular health, and mood regulation. K2 is paired with D3 to direct calcium appropriately and support cardiovascular and bone health simultaneously. |
Ortho Molecular Products Orthomega® (High-quality Omega-3 fatty acids for inflammation balance and hormone health) | Omega-3s support healthy inflammation balance, hormone production, cardiovascular function, cognitive clarity, and joint health. We prioritize triglyceride form over ethyl ester formulations because of its superior absorption and clinical efficacy. |
Vital Nutrients® Magnesium Glycinate (Supports sleep, muscle relaxation, and nervous system balance) | Magnesium is one of the most commonly deficient minerals in adults and one of the most underappreciated. It plays a role in over 300 enzymatic processes in the body, including sleep quality, nervous system regulation, muscle function, blood sugar metabolism, and cardiovascular health. Glycinate is among the most bioavailable and well-tolerated forms. |
Ortho Molecular Products Magnesium L-Threonate (Promotes healthy brain function for cognitive clarity and stress resilience) | Unlike other forms of magnesium, L-Threonate crosses the blood-brain barrier, making it particularly relevant for cognitive function, memory support, and neurological health. |
Protocol For Life Balance® Myo-Inositol (Supports hormonal balance, mental wellness, and metabolic health) | Inositol supports metabolic balance, insulin sensitivity, mood stability, and hormonal regulation. It is particularly relevant for women navigating PCOS, perimenopause, or anxiety, and is supported by a growing body of clinical research in each of these areas. |
Ortho Molecular Products Ortho Biotic® (Targeted, high potency probiotic for gut and immune support) | A high-quality, multi-strain probiotic supports gut microbiome diversity, immune function, and the gut-brain axis. Probiotic selection is guided by clinical need. Not all strains serve the same purpose, and more colony-forming units does not always mean a better product. |
Ortho Molecular Products MitoCORE® (Comprehensive multivitamin for energy and immune system support) | A high-quality multivitamin fills nutritional gaps that even a healthy diet may leave and supports cellular energy production. We emphasize active, bioavailable nutrient forms over cheaper synthetic versions common in mass-market multivitamins. |
(For muscle preservation/mass, metabolic health, and cognitive support) | Creatine is one of the most extensively researched supplements available, with a strong safety profile and an evidence base supporting benefits for muscle preservation, metabolic health, and cognitive function. Muscle mass is one of the strongest predictors of long-term health and healthy aging. For patients focused on longevity, strength, and metabolic resilience, creatine is a meaningful clinical tool, not just an athletic supplement. |
Getting started is straightforward. First, schedule a consultation with one of our providers. Second, receive personalized supplement recommendations based on your labs, health history, and goals. Third, order directly from our list of most recommended supplements below.
The supplement industry is loosely regulated, and the result is a marketplace full of products that underdeliver. What is on the label is not always what is in the bottle. Inconsistent dosing, poorly absorbed nutrient forms, and fillers are common in retail products.
Bioavailability matters more than most people realize. Magnesium glycinate absorbs far better than magnesium oxide. Methylfolate outperforms folic acid. Triglyceride-form omega-3s are significantly more effective than ethyl ester formulations. The form of a nutrient determines whether it actually works in your body.
When a supplement carries our recommendation, it has already been evaluated for quality, purity, and clinical relevance, not just chosen from a catalog.
We do not recommend a supplement because it is popular or heavily marketed. We recommend it because the evidence and the patient’s clinical picture support it.
Every supplement we consider is evaluated for sourcing transparency, Good Manufacturing Practice certification, third-party testing, bioavailability, and clinical evidence. These are not optional criteria. They are the baseline.
Trends and influencer recommendations do not factor into our evaluations. That is the standard our patients deserve.

Standard primary care lab panels rarely test for magnesium status, optimal vitamin D levels, omega-3 index, or other foundational nutritional markers. Deficiencies in these areas can contribute to fatigue, mood changes, cognitive fog, poor sleep, hormonal imbalance, and cardiovascular risk factors. Functional medicine testing reveals what conventional care frequently overlooks, and targeted supplementation addresses the specific gaps that testing identifies.
At Vibrant Health, supplements are one component of a personalized, root-cause care plan. Here is how supplementation connects to our core service areas.
Deficiencies in magnesium, vitamin D, omega-3s, B vitamins, and zinc can contribute to fatigue, mood instability, sleep disruption, and hot flashes. Targeted supplementation supports hormonal transitions and complements bioidentical hormone therapy where appropriate.
When functional stool testing identifies microbiome imbalances or compromised gut barrier integrity, targeted supplementation with probiotics, digestive enzymes, and specific nutrients becomes part of the protocol. We use what the data supports, not generic gut protocols.
Thyroid function depends on adequate selenium, zinc, iodine, and vitamin D. Deficiencies can contribute to suboptimal thyroid performance even when standard labs appear normal. Functional testing reveals these gaps and guides precision supplementation.
When advanced cholesterol testing reveals specific vulnerabilities, targeted nutrients including omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and CoQ10 may be incorporated into a cardiovascular support protocol. Our focus is always prevention.
Supplements are not neutral. Some interact with medications. Some are contraindicated in specific health conditions. Some are simply not needed, regardless of what a label claims.
At Vibrant Health, every recommendation is made by a licensed medical provider based on your labs, symptoms, health history, and current medications. Protocols are monitored over time and adjusted as your health changes.
Our goal is always to use the fewest supplements that provide the most meaningful clinical benefit. Precision over excess. Every time.
Supplements work when they are the right supplements, in the right forms, at the right doses, for the right person. That requires a provider who knows you, your labs, and your goals.
Vibrant Health of Colorado provides practitioner-grade supplement guidance at both of our clinic locations, with statewide access available through telehealth for patients across Colorado.
Our team is here to help you build a protocol grounded in evidence, tailored to your needs, and integrated into a care plan designed to address root causes, not just symptoms.

Are you just trying to sell me supplements?
No. Our supplement recommendations are based entirely on clinical need, not revenue. Many patients need only a small number of foundational products. If testing does not support a supplement, we do not recommend it. Period.
Do I have to take ten pills a day?
No. Protocols are designed to be sustainable and manageable. We focus on what will make a meaningful clinical difference, not on volume.
Can I buy these supplements cheaper online or at a retail store?
You may find products with similar names at lower prices. But potency, purity, bioavailability, and batch consistency are not guaranteed in retail or third-party marketplace products. What you save in cost, you may lose in clinical value. If you have questions about a specific product, ask your provider.
What are practitioner-grade supplements?
Practitioner-grade supplements are professional-quality nutritional products available exclusively through licensed healthcare providers. Unlike retail supplements, they are subject to stricter manufacturing standards, independent third-party testing, and quality controls that verify potency, purity, bioavailability, and batch consistency.
Are practitioner-grade supplements better than store-bought vitamins?
In most cases, yes, but quality is only part of the distinction. The more important factor is clinical fit. A supplement recommended based on your specific lab results and health history will almost always outperform one chosen from a label claim or a social media recommendation.
What is Fullscript and why does Vibrant Health use it?
Fullscript is a practitioner-managed online supplement dispensary used by licensed healthcare providers across North America. Vibrant Health uses Fullscript to give patients convenient, quality-assured access to professional-grade supplements as part of their personalized care plans. Products ship directly to your home.
Are supplements covered by insurance?
Supplements are generally not covered by insurance. However, as part of Vibrant Health’s membership model, supplement guidance and clinical oversight are integrated into your overall care plan, ensuring that every product you take is serving a clear clinical purpose.
What supplements help with menopause symptoms?
Nutritional support for menopause should always be guided by lab testing and clinical evaluation. Commonly incorporated supplements include magnesium glycinate for sleep and nervous system support, vitamin D3 with K2 for bone and cardiovascular health, omega-3 fatty acids for inflammation balance and hormonal support, and inositol for mood stability and metabolic regulation.
What supplements support thyroid function?
Thyroid health depends on adequate levels of selenium, zinc, iodine, and vitamin D. Functional testing can identify specific deficiencies affecting thyroid performance even when standard labs appear normal. Recommendations are always guided by individual test results, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
What are the best supplements for gut health?
Gut health supplementation at Vibrant Health is guided by functional stool testing and a thorough evaluation of symptoms and history. High-potency probiotics, digestive enzymes, and targeted nutrients are commonly incorporated to support microbiome balance and resolve persistent digestive symptoms.
Can I order supplements without a consultation?
You can access Vibrant Health’s Fullscript dispensary directly, but we strongly encourage a consultation first. Without knowing your labs, health history, and specific goals, supplement recommendations are educated guesses at best. Our goal is precision.
How do I know if my supplements are working?
Progress is evaluated through follow-up testing, symptom reassessment, and ongoing provider oversight. Protocols are monitored and adjusted as your health evolves. If something is not working, we will adjust the plan accordingly.
Dear Valued Patients,
It has always been my passion to provide high-quality healthcare that combines traditional medicine and functional medicine, all within an accessible, insurance-based model. As the owner of Vibrant Health of Colorado (VHC), my goal has been, and continues to be, to make this level of care as accessible as possible. All people should have access to personalized, compassionate, and effective healthcare, regardless of their financial status. Taking insurance has allowed us to offer this.
Insurance companies, however, have made this increasingly difficult. Due to changing insurance regulations, declining reimbursements, and rising operational costs, we’ve been faced with nearly insurmountable challenges in delivering the quality of care you deserve through the current system. These challenges have led to difficulties in scheduling timely appointments (some patients are waiting months to see their provider) and rushed visits, resulting in providers having less time to listen and thoroughly address individual needs. This creates late nights for providers, as they respond to portal messages, review lab results, and complete charting outside of clinic hours. Each of these factors is contributing to provider burnout and patient frustration.
As a team, we have considered many options that might improve the current situation. We have determined that a membership-based model is the most effective way for VHC to continue as a successful practice, providing exceptional and personalized care that genuinely focuses on building strong relationships with each of our patients. As of March 2, 2026, we will no longer accept insurance and will transition fully to a membership-based practice to support your health needs more effectively and sustainably.
What this means for our patients is that, for an affordable monthly fee, you will have access to comprehensive healthcare, including primary care, gynecology, hormone therapy, weight loss support, functional medicine, and all other services we currently provide.
This means:
While I am genuinely excited about this new model, I understand that this change will be challenging for many, and for some, it will not be a good fit. We’ve worked hard to keep the membership fee as reasonable as possible, lower than comparable functional medicine practices, to make this transition accessible for as many of our patients as possible.
There are flexible options:
Note to those patients currently required to have an office visit every three months for controlled substance refills:.
We do not want you to be without your medications, and we know it may take time to establish care with another provider. We will continue to see you for six months (two visits) without a membership while you find a new provider. Please see our website for details on how these visits will work.
We know this is a significant change, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Please visit the FAQ page on our website for detailed information, helpful videos, and answers to most of the questions you may have. https://vibranthealthofcolorado.com/faq/
While this new model will be able to meet many of your healthcare needs, we recommend maintaining some level of insurance coverage for emergencies and/or medical services beyond what our clinic provides. If helpful, we can provide you with the name and contact information of a local insurance broker who specializes in affordable health insurance options that can be combined with membership-based practice models.
Many patients may be able to use their HSA funds to cover their membership fees. This varies by plan, and there are limitations. To find out definitively, you will want to reach out to your HSA provider.
The number of available memberships is limited, as this will enable our office and providers to dedicate the necessary time to providing personalized care to our members. We are accepting enrollments now to secure your membership, but your membership payments will not begin until March 2, 2026. Patients who sign up now through November 17th, 2025, will enroll at a reduced rate of $249 a month. Enrollment on November 18th and after will be $279 a month. We are also excited to be able to offer family discounts and a 20% discount for the primary comprehensive membership paid in full at the start of the yearly membership.
For those of you who find that a membership model is not the right option for you, we will help to ensure a smooth transition and make sure you have what you need, including your medical records, while you establish care with a new provider. We will continue to see patients through insurance, as we do now, through February 27, 2026. Effective March 2nd, 2026, we will no longer be a member of OB/GYN affiliates, and will not be in network with insurance.
Thank you for your trust, your support, and the privilege of caring for you.
With heartfelt gratitude and excitement for what’s ahead,
Deanna Woodroffe, WHNP-BC,
Owner - Vibrant Health of Colorado
